You don’t have to use a real-estate agent when you buy or sell a home, but if you hope to minimize headaches and hassle, you may want to.
After all, a home is the most expensive purchase most people will ever make. And with the median home price sitting at over $430,000, consumers have a lot on the line if something goes awry. So calling in a professional—at least for most people—just makes sense.
“A typical person will only purchase a home once every five to seven years,” says Jonathan Rundlett, regional owner of real-estate firm Exit Mid-Atlantic. “Real-estate agents help people buy, sell and lease homes every day.”
