Getting Your Home Ready for the New Year

by EV Atlanta

2022 is around the corner, giving you the perfect excuse to revamp your home for the New Year. To help you get in the true spirit of “new year, new home,” we have put together a list of our favorite design trends we predict will take over the home décor scene in 2022.

Old Becomes New

As we all know, supply chain issues across industries have created shortages, and unfortunately, that is no different for furniture suppliers. However, in light of this issue and the rise of environmentally conscious buyers, we expect vintage furniture elements to transition into a key trend in home design.

Not only are vintage finds a great way to stay green, but shopping for upcycled furniture often leads to the discovery of one-of-a-kind pieces or uniquely detailed treasures, that would be much too expensive to recreate today. These unique pieces are a great way to add personality to a home in a way that can’t be easily recreated by anyone else.

Greenery

After more than a year of being stuck inside thanks to the pandemic, 2022 will be the year of bringing the outside in. This desire for an increased connection to nature will present itself though plant-based décor, fresh florals, floral wallpapers, greenery walls, the incorporation of natural colors in design elements, and more.

In addition to the more literal interpretation of natural design, green is predicted to be a dominant color this season. Whether you take a moderate approach in adding pops of greens to your décor, or jump full in with painting rooms green, incorporating this versatile color is a great way to add a rich sense of depth to your space.

Lighting that Makes a Statement

Lighting is a great way to combine functionality and art in a thoughtful way, that can really transform the feeling of a space. Although some of the lighting trends for 2022 such as alabaster lighting, large eye-catching pieces, flush mounts, and sconces are something we’ve seen before, newer styles such as LED sculpture lights are something we are excited to see styled in more homes.

Multifunctional Space

Since we have all experienced more time than ever in our own homes, these spaces have taken on a variety of new roles, transforming into our gyms, offices, bars, restaurants, schools and so much more. As a result, homeowners have discovered the importance of having versatile and flexible spaces that can adapt to their everchanging needs.

As a result, multifunctional spaces, furniture, and décor are going to be big this year and likely for many years to come. While the past year+ has consisted of reconfiguring your home to include space to work and play, 2022 is about creating a purposeful space that invites you to spend more time in a space you love, even if you don’t have to.

Sophisticated Neutrals

Neutral colors in the home are a longtime favorite of many homeowners because of their ability to stand the test of time. This year, however, we are expected to take neutrals as step further thanks the crazy, preceding year.

This past year, it has become more important than ever that our homes are a restful sanctuary where we can find solace and relaxation. It is, for this reason, that the classic neutrals such as white, cream, gray, beige, brown, as well as other natural earth colors are becoming so popular.

If you take anything from these trends, let it be the importance of curating a home that brings you peace and gives you joy every time you walk through the front door.
