The Best of Atlanta During the Holidays
The holiday season is here, and the city has transformed itself into a winter wonderland with lots of festive activities for everyone to enjoy. Whether you’re looking for some wholesome family fun to get the kids in the holiday spirit, or a cozy night spot to sip seasonal drinks and watch the holiday lights, we have the perfect activities for you.
Light up the City
A staple of the holiday season is the lighting displays across the city and two of our favorites are at the Botanical Gardens right here in the city, and Callaway Gardens.
Ever year the Atlanta Botanical Garden’s hosts Garden Lights, Holiday Nights, a seasonal extravaganza with the traditional fan favorites along with spectacular new additions including the Glowing Grove along the flower lock, the Ice Goddess, lighted sculptures, and so much more.

Callaway Gardens, located just south of the city, hosts their annual Fantasy in Lights, a nationally recognized, immersive, Winter Wonderland with a variety of light displays, Christmas scenes, decorated trees, character meet-and-greets, and more.
Holiday on the Roof
Kicking on November 26th Ponce City Market welcomes back their annual Holiday on the Roof. The roof is transformed into a Winter Wonderland spectacular with cozy igloos where you can enjoy seasonal drinks and delicious food, the Holiday Social Bar featuring a curated cocktail list of over-the-top beverages, and of course ice skating with a skyline view.

Skate the Day Away
One of the most iconic winter activities is undouble ice skating. A seasonal staple, this family-friendly activity is an absolute must, and with plenty of rinks around the city there is no excuse to miss out. Atlantic Station, Colony Square, Avalon, Centennial Park, Ponce City Market, and many other iconic locations are soon opening their annual, outdoor ice rinks.

Holiday Shows
The theatre is quintessential part of the holiday season and we are so lucky that Atlanta is home to amazing production companies that put on our favorite winter performances. This year you can look to your favorite holiday productions including the Atlanta Ballet’s Nutcracker, Dr. Suess’s A Grinch Stole Christmas, A Christmas Carol, Elf on the Shelf Live at The Fox Theatre, and a performance from the Radio City Rockettes.

Tree Lightings
Is it really Christmas without the lighting of a Christmas tree? Atlanta has a variety of tree lighting celebrations going on throughout the city in the coming weeks including The Lighting at Colony Square, Light the Station at Atlantic Station, The Battery Atlanta’s 5th Annual Tree Lighting, and the Christmas tree Lighting at the Governor’s mansion. Each lighting ceremony includes a range of holiday activities to enjoy alongside the main event itself.
