Quarry Yards Development Sold for $127 Million

Located right on the banks of Proctor Creek, Quarry Yards is one of the largest land parcels remaining in Atlanta, and the location of one of the most acknowledged developments of the year. Recently announced, this 70-acre plot of land was sold by Urban Creek Partners, an Atlanta-based real estate development company, for $127 million dollars.
The buyers have remained anonymous, but sources tie the purchaser to Microsoft. And while Microsoft has yet to confirm, several people with knowledge of the deal have indicated the tech giant has big plans for the site that will, as Atlanta Business Chronicle reported, “be great for the city”.
The 70-acre-plot, originally assembled by former Georgia Tech and Atlanta Braves baseball star, Mark Teixeira, and his partners (Urban Creek Partners), was set to be the home for a highly publicized mixed-use development and already had some work done on the first 27-acres.
The prime location of the area grew great interest from developers; being nestled at the convergence of three of Atlanta’s latest developments; the Beltline, the Bellwood Quarry Park (Atlanta’s largest park of 280 acres) and the Proctor Creek Greenway while also having access to an on-site connection to MARTA, making Quarry Yards the only major Atlanta site to include direct access to both MARTA and the Beltline.
Stay tuned for more updates on the purchaser and how we anticipate the purchase to impact the surrounding neighborhood.
