Advisor Spotlight: Stacy Tunick

by EV Atlanta

In late February of 2020, COVID-19 started gaining traction here in Atlanta and many small businesses began closing in efforts to slow the spread and protect their employees. Atlantans were feeling the effects of the pandemic, especially front-line workers risking their lives to care for those infected and services industry employees who had been laid off without knowing how they would pay rent or buy food. One of our dedicated advisors here at Engel & Völkers Atlanta, Stacy Tunick, saw everything start to unfold, and she knew she needed to do her part.

Working with a local community organization STRIVE, Stacy set up a GoFundMe and started taking donations for food to deliver to healthcare workers. STRIVE would cook, and Stacy would deliver. She soon came to find out that hospitals were actually turning away food donations because they were overwhelmed with the generosity.

This didn’t deter Stacy as she knew there were people who needed her help. She remembered that since schools had closed their doors and cut the school year short, the children who depended on their school breakfast and lunches would be going without. So, she began donating to organizations who helped those in communities with food insecurities like Our House Homeless Shelter and Food Pantries.

While shut-down restrictions have been lifted a bit and some long for a return to normal, Stacy is still working hard and doing her part to help those within her community. She’s raised over $18,000 and delivered more than 1,500 meals over the past few months and doesn’t think she’ll be stopping anytime soon.

“If I’m in a position to help, I will.” she says.

We are thankful for people like Stacy Tunick who consistently go above and beyond for those in need. Throughout metro Atlanta, about 5,000 nonprofits strive to make our communities stronger every day. Do your part. See what organizations are in your community and how you can help.  There are plenty of opportunities to help, even if you only have a few minutes, an hour, or an afternoon.
