Antonin “Tony” Aeck is chairman emeritus and a senior principal of the architecture, interiors, planning, and preservation firm Lord Aeck Sargent. His career began in Paris, where he worked on completing the late Le Corbusier’s final unfinished design commissions. In the 1970s he joined Aeck Associates, an Atlanta architecture firm founded by his parents; under Aeck’s leadership the firm merged with Lord & Sargent in 1989. In 2018 it was acquired by the Silicon Valley tech start-up Katerra.

Education: Rice University
Why I chose this work: My father and mother were both successful and well-known practitioners of their respective professions, architecture and interior design, in the Southeast. Together, they established and ran an influential Atlanta design firm for more than four decades. As an only child born when my mother was 45, I was imbued with “design thinking.” If that were not enough, my mother—a Taliesin fellow—enlisted Frank Lloyd Wright to be my godfather.
