Reimagining West Midtown’s Arts Center

by EV Atlanta

Situated just west of frequented Howell Mill Road, the Goat Farm Arts Center is planned to receive a $250 million redecoration, overseen by Smith Dalia Architects, that will both: preserve this area’s history and introduce new attractions.

The Goat Farm Arts Center has been the backdrop for some of your favorite motion pictures, like the Hunger Games or the Walking Dead. And so, maintaining the uniqueness and history of this area is important to the people who frequent it.

As Goat Farms makes its transformation, the 500+ people who live and work at this location will need to temporarily relocate, and over “98% of the artists, practitioners, and businesses have already registered to return.”

Projected for completion in 2022, the finished product plans to host the new, 28,000-square-foot Museum of Contemporary Art of Georgia designed by Mack Scogin Merrill Elam Architects.

Additionally this complex will showcase 80,000 square feet of artist work space, multi-functional studios, two new restaurants, a café, an arts-centric hotel that is being co-developed by the Goat Farm and Tungsten Partners, multiple performance and exhibition venues, a fabrication lab, and three galleries.
